The statistics are intended to describe the Swedish vehicle fleet. This applies in the first place to the stock of vehicles, new registrations, the category that owns the vehicle and statistics on a regional level.
The statistics are since reference year 2007 presented in an annual report including the former four different surveys: Vehicles at the turn of the year, Vehicles in counties an municipalities, Vehicles according to the Road Traffic Register and Distances covered
The extent of the studies
The survey includes all vehicles registered in the National Road Agency’s Road Traffic Register. This register includes all vehicles subject to registration according to the Road Traffic Register Act (2001:558). The statistical information does not include vehicles not subject to registration, such as mopeds (except EU mopeds), state-owned military vehicles and vehicles that are only used in fenced areas where there is no obligation to register.
Publication
The vehicle statistics are published in an annual report and is also presented on the website by moth regarding stock, new registrations and deregistration. All surveys are available in electronic format.
