The statistics on telecommunications describe the telecommunications sector with regard to infrastructure, operators, traffic volume and finances.

The study on telecommunications is carried out in collaboration between SIKA, Statistics Sweden and the National Post and Telecom Agency and is intended to describe the state of the Swedish telecommunications market. The statistics are to show both the development in the industry and provide information about different market segments. The statistics are used as a source of information and a basis for decision-making by government agencies, organisations, ministries, businesses and other interested parties. The financial results are also used by the national accounts at Statistics Sweden. Financial information and volume information are also sent to Eurostat for international comparisons.

The extent of the study
The study covers all companies in industry categories 64.201, 64.202 and 64.203 in Statistics Sweden’s company database. Companies which engage in telecommunications activities as a secondary activity are also included.
