Postal service statistics describe the postal services sector with regard to infrastructure, operators, traffic volume and finances.

The study on postal services is carried out in collaboration between SIKA, Statistics Sweden (SCB) and the National Post and Telecom Agency on behalf of SIKA and aims to shed light on postal activities in Sweden. The statistics are to show both the development in the sector and provide information about different market segments. The statistics are used by government agencies, organisations, ministries, postal operators and other interested parties. The financial results are also used by the national accounts at Statistics Sweden.

The extent of the study
The study covers all companies belong to industry categories 64.110 and 64.120 in Statistics Sweden’s database, and all companies, regardless of category, which have a licence from the National Post and Telecom Agency to provide postal services.

The report Postverksamhet [Postal services, in Swedish] is published annually in both printed and electronic form.
